Textos Completos Autorizados

Quantitative Lung Ultrasonography to Guide Surfactant Therapy in Neonates Born Late Preterm and Later.

Quantitative Lung Ultrasonography to Guide Surfactant Therapy in Neonates Born Late Preterm and Later.

Fuente:Jama Network Open

Extracto: AND RELEVANCE: In this diagnostic study of late preterm through full-term neonates with respiratory failure early after birth, LUS accuracy to predict surfactant need was not inferior to that observed in earlier preterm neonates. An LUS higher than 8 was associated with highest global accuracy (replacement test), suggesting that it can be used to guide surfactant administration. An LUS value of 4 or lower was associated with the highest sensitivity (triage test), suggesting it is unlikely for this population to need surfactant.

Extracto: Preliminary evidence suggests that the anodal application of tDCS to the right DLPFC reduces the symptoms of BED. However, caution should be exercised in the broader use of tDCS in this context due to the small number of studies performed and the small number of patients included. Future studies should incorporate neuroimaging and neurophysiological measurements to elucidate the potential mechanisms of action of tDCS in BED.

The burdens attributable to primary headache disorders in children and adolescents in Iran: estimates from a schools-based study.

Fuente:The Journal of Headache and Pain

Extracto: Headache, common in children and adolescents in Iran, is associated with symptom burdens that may be onerous for some but not for most. However, there are substantial consequential burdens, particularly for the 1.1% with pMOH and the 3.0% with other H15+, who suffer educational disturbances and potentially major life impairments. These findings are of importance to educational and health policies in Iran.

Extracto: The ensuing recommendations were as follows: Recommendation 1: Depressive and anxiety disorders, as well as their pharmacological treatment, are not contraindications for breastfeeding. Recommendation 2: The Panel advocates for the continuation of medication that has demonstrated efficacy during pregnancy. If initiating an antidepressant during breastfeeding is necessary, drugs with a superior safety profile and substantial epidemiological data, such as SSRIs, should be favored and prescribed at the lowest effective dose. Recommendation 3: For the short-term alleviation of anxiety symptoms and sleep disturbances, the Panel determined that benzodiazepines can be administered during breastfeeding. Recommendation 4: The Panel advises against discontinuing opioid abuse treatment during breastfeeding. Recommendation 5: The Panel endorses collaboration among specialists (e.g., psychiatrists, pediatricians, toxicologists), promoting multidisciplinary care whenever feasible. Coordination with the general practitioner is also recommended.

Fecal Coprococcus, hidden behind abdominal symptoms in patients with small intestinal bacterial overgrowth.

Fuente:Journal of Translational Medicine

Extracto: This study provides valuable insights into the fecal microbiota composition and predicted metabolic functional changes in patients with SIBO. Butyrivibrio and Coprococcus_2, both renowned for their role in carbohydrate fermenters and gas production, contributed significantly to the symptoms of the patients. Coprococcus's abundance hints at its use as a SIBO marker. Asymptomatic PBT individuals show a different microbiome, rich in Veillonella. PBT's complex microbial interactions might stabilize the intestinal ecosystem, but further study is needed due to the core microbiota similarities with SIBO. Predicted folate and amino acid metabolism reductions in SIBO merit additional validation.
