puntero.gif  BACTERIOPHAGE REDUCES BIOFILM OF STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS EX VIVO ISOLATES FROM CHRONIC RHINOSINUSITIS PATIENTS
Bacteriophages have been identified in laboratory conditions to be effective anti-biofilm agents targeting the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, including strains isolated from chronic rhinosinusitis patients. There is therefore potential for bacteriophage to be applied as a treatment against S. aureus sinonasal infections and biofilms in the context of chronic rhinosinusitis.

puntero.gif  ALTERED SUBCELLULAR DISTRIBUTION OF DISC1, CAMP LEVELS, AND NEURONAL MIGRATION IN SCHIZOPHRENIA AND BIPOLAR DISORDER
DISC1 (disrupted-in-schizophrenia-1) is considered a genetic risk factor for neuropsychiatric disorders. In this study, analysis in human olfactory neuronal precursors of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder patients showed decreased DISC1 levels in the cytoplasm, cAMP accumulation and diminished cell migration. The results suggest that these disorders share common molecular pathways that could hinder the neurodevelopmental process.

puntero.gif  THERMOLUMINESCENCE, OPTICALLY STIMULATED LUMINESCENCE AND RADIOPHOTOLUMINESCENCE DOSIMETRY– AN OVERALL PERSPECTIVE
although thermoluminescence is a major player in the personnel dosimetry arena, optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) technique is becoming more and more popular for various applications in radiation dosimetry. Due to availability of relatively low-Z, high-sensitivity radiophotoluminescence (RPL) glass dosimeters as well as having all good aspects as those for OSL dosimeters, popularity of RPL dosimeters is also expected to increase in...

puntero.gif  BILE ACIDS RELAX LOWER ESOPHAGEAL SPHINCTER VIA G-PROTEIN COUPLED RECEPTORS
Bile acids help fat digestion in the gastrointestinal tract. Bile acids can also act as hormones. Activation of G-protein coupled bile receptors by bile acids relaxes gastrointestinal muscles including the lower esophageal sphincter. The bile acid receptor might be a potential therapeutic target for treating gastro-esophageal reflux disease.
