puntero.gif  ANTIPLATELET AND ANTITHROMBOTIC HERBAL COMBINATION WITH SYNERGISTIC EFFECT
Combinational preparations of Phyllostachys pubescens leaves (PL) and mume fructus (MF), and especially their 2:1 combination, can increase antiplatelet and anti-thrombosis effects more than PL and MF alone, offering evidence for a potential novel combination anti-thrombic therapy.

puntero.gif  EFFECT OF ARIPIPRAZOLE WITH CARBAMAZEPINE AND FLUVOXAMINE ON LIVER FUNCTION
Aripiprazole given in combination with fluvoxamine, there was significant hepatotoxicity possibly due to inhibition of aripiprazole metabolizing enzyme CYP3A4. Similarly co-administration of carbamazepine, a CYP3A4 inducer may lead to significant decrease in plasma concentration of aripiprazole and potentially a loss in aripiprazole's clinical efficacy.

puntero.gif  CLINICAL CHARACTERISTICS IDENTIFYING BRAIN ATROPHY IN OLDER PATIENTS WITH BIPOLAR DISORDER
characteristics that may identify bipolar patients at high risk for developing brain atrophy in late life remain undiscovered. Forty-four bipolar I patients aged beyond 60 years were recruited in this study. Thirty-three of them had brain atrophy on structural magnetic resonance imaging at 1.5 T. The positive history of rapid cycling and lower hemoglobin levels during affective episodes provided the greatest...

puntero.gif  RADIOFREQUENCY IN TREATMENT OF ALLERGIC INFERIOR TURBINATE HYPERTROPHY
Radiofrequency volumetric tissue reduction is safe and effective treatment for nasal obstruction secondary to allergic inferior turbinate hypertrophy refractory to medical treatment. Radio-frequency is delivered deep inside turbinate preserving its surface. Healing process induces submucosal fibrosis leading to tissue volume reduction that relieves nasal obstruction and other allergic symptoms.

puntero.gif  CARING FOR ILL CHILDREN CLOSER TO HOME
Care closer to home (CCTH) services may deliver equivalent outcomes for children, when offered to suitable groups and with appropriate care protocols. When CCTH is used to avoid admission to acute care, burden and costs for families may be reduced. Case and skill mix influence opportunities for reduced health service costs.

puntero.gif  ADVANTAGES OF PERICHONDRIALLY ATTACHED EAR DICED CARTILAGE IN RHINOPLASTY INDICATORS OF GRAFT CARTILAGE VIABILITY, SHAP
cartilage is elastic, and has a thick perichondrium; it is also easy to harvest and leaves no visible scars. In perichondrially attached diced conchal cartilage, the graft stays in one piece by the underlying soft tissue, and has the capacity to take any form, provide a solid structure, be sutured into place, and even serve as a cover in patients with...
