Textos Completos Autorizados

Extracto: In conclusion, our study revealed that a higher SII level was associated with tumor-related features (larger tumor size and advanced grade) and subsequent shorter DFS and OS in patients with nonfunctioning pNETs. These results indicated that the SII could serve as an efficient prognostic biomarker for nonfunctioning pNETs.

Feasibility and Impact Assessment of a Food Insecurity Protocol in a Large Urban Pediatric Primary Care Network.

Feasibility and Impact Assessment of a Food Insecurity Protocol in a Large Urban Pediatric Primary Care Network.

Fuente:Journal of Primary Care & Community Health

Tipo de trabajo:Revisión

Extracto: Out of 42 clinicians invited to complete the survey, 35 completed responses. All respondents reported universal screening for FI (100%) at routine examinations, 80% reported frequently electronically documenting FI in medical records, and 91% of clinicians reported frequently referring families who screened positive for FI to at least one FI resource, with 24% reporting that resources met families' needs. Open-ended responses revealed increased awareness of FI prevalence and of patient experiences in households experiencing FI, increased satisfaction with clinical management of FI, but also concerns around having limited clinical time to do the protocol and the usefulness and accessibility of referred resources. In conclusion, implementing this pilot FI protocol was feasible, but clinicians perceived limited impact of the protocol on alleviating FI and desired more robust intervention options. Further improvements include shifting the burden of performing the protocol away from the clinician, such as by streamlining the protocol or identifying a resource staff member, and establishing more accessible and effective FI interventions such as "Food as Medicine" offerings in partnership with community organizations.

ERN1 knockdown modifies the hypoxic regulation of homeobox gene expression in U87MG glioblastoma cells.

Fuente:Endocrine Regulations

Extracto: The results of the present study demonstrate that hypoxia affected the expression of homeobox genes MEIS1, MEIS2, MEIS3, LHX1, LHX2, LHX6, SPAG4, and NKX3-1 in U87MG glioblastoma cells in gene-specific manner and that the sensitivity of all studied genes to hypoxia condition is mediated by ERN1, the major pathway of the endoplasmic reticulum stress signaling, and possibly contributed to the control of glioblastoma growth. A fundamentally new results of this work is the establishment of the fact regarding the dependence of hypoxic regulation of SPAG4 gene expression on ER stress, in particular ERN1, which is associated with suppression of cell proliferation and tumor growth.
