Biomarkers
BB SIIC. Ingreso: 08/2005-
Editor-in-Chief: John A Timbrell,
Biochemical Toxicology, Pharmacy Department King's College London,
Franklin Wilkins Building, Stamford Street, London SE1 9NH, UK
The
journal Biomarkers brings together all aspects of
the rapidly growing field of biomarker research, encompassing their
various uses and applications in one essential source.
The journal has enlarged its scope to include the expanding area of
biomarkers of disease and now intends to include evidence-based
pharmacodynamic markers. Biomarkers, now more than
ever, provides a vital forum for the exchange of ideas and techniques
in all areas of biomarker research. High quality papers in four
main areas are accepted and manuscripts describing novel biomarkers and
their subsequent validation are especially encouraged: Biomarkers of
disease: covering measurement of endogenous substances or parameters
indicative of a disease process and the use of pharmacodynamic and
genetic markers in evidence-based laboratory medicine and treatment
(markers of efficacy);
Biomarkers of exposure: covering detection and measurement of internal
exposure to drugs and other chemicals;
Biomarkers of response: including measures of endogenous substances or
parameters indicative of pathological or biochemical changes both
toxicodynamic and pharmacodynamic, resulting from exposure to drugs and
other chemicals;
Biomarkers of susceptibility:: including genetic factors which alter
susceptibility to drugs and other chemicals.
Manuscripts can describe biomarkers measured in humans or other animals
in vivo or in vitro. Biomarkers
will consider publishing negative data from studies of biomarkers of
susceptibility in human populations.
The emphasis will be on demonstrating relationships between markers and
effects rather than methodological papers unless they describe novel
techniques.

Breast
Cancer Research and Treatment
BB SIIC.
Ingreso: 09/2004-
Editor-in-Chief:
Marc E. Lippman
University of Michigan Health Center, Ann Arbor, USA
Breast Cancer Research and Treatment provides the surgeon,
radiotherapist, medical oncologist, endocrinologist, epidemiologist,
immunologist or cell biologist investigating problems in breast cancer
a single forum for communication. The journal creates a
`market place' for breast cancer topics which cuts across all the usual
lines of disciplines, providing a site for presenting
pertinent
investigations and for discussing critical questions relevant to the
entire field. It seeks to develop a new focus and new perspectives for
all those concerned with breast cancer.
Oncology is undoubtedly the most rapidly growing subspecialty in the
field of medicine, and breast cancer is one of the most serious
problems of oncology. It is the leading cause of death of
women in many countries and is truly a multidisiplinary problem without
geographic restrictions. Yet this very multidisciplinary aspect
accounts for breast cancer literature appearing in any of the dozens of
existing medical journals. None of these journals provides a
focus on the unique problems of breast cancer. There has been no
convenient arena for the discussion and resolution of ongoing
controversies in breast cancer treatment, or for the consideration of
thoughtful speculation and comments on current work.
Breast Cancer Research and Treatment aims to fill this need. Each issue
contains several articles dealing with original laboratory
investigations and articles dealing with clinical studies.
There are sections devoted to invited review articles, pro and con
discussions of controversial subjects, book reviews, meeting reports,
and editorials. Panel discussions are presented which bring
together
experts to consider important topics. There is a section for letters to
the editor, which provides for a lively exchange of opinions on
previously published articles or other topics of interest. There is
also an opportunity to publish the proceedings of special workshops,
symposia, etc., devoted to breast cancer. All manuscripts are peer
reviewed by a distinguished group of advisory editors from many
countries covering all of the various disciplines of breast
cancer.

Medical Journal (BMJ)
BB SIIC. Ingreso: 2003-
The
BMJ aims to publish rigorous, accessible and
entertaining material that will help doctors and medical students in
their daily practice, lifelong learning and career development. In
addition, it seeks to be at the forefront of the international debate
on health. To achieve these aims we publish original
scientific studies, review and educational articles, and papers
commenting on the clinical, scientific, social, political, and economic
factors affecting health. We are delighted to receive articles for
publication in all of these categories - from doctors and others. We
can publish only about 9% of more than 6000 articles that we receive
each year, but we aim to give quick decisions.
The BMJ is published weekly and has a circulation
of about 108,500, of which 13,500 copies are distributed outside
Britain.
