papers of fundamental significance, it also publishes reviews, essays,
specialized presentations of controversies, considerations of new
technologies and their applications to specific laboratory problems,
discussions of public issues, miniseries on major topics, new and
experimental drugs and therapies, and an innovative letters to the
editor section. One of the unique features of the journal is its
departmentalized editorial sections reporting on more than 30 subject
categories covering the broad spectrum of specialized areas that
together comprise the field of oncology. Edited by leading physicians
and research scientists, these sections make Cancer
Investigation the prime resource for clinicians seeking to
make sense of the sometimes-overwhelming amount of information

Editor-in-Chief:

E-mail:
cellularoncology@vumc.nl
Cellular Oncology publishes scientific contributions from various
biomedical and clinical disciplines involved in basic and translational
cancer research on the cell and tissue level, technical and
bioinformatics developments in this area, and clinical applications.
This includes a variety of fields like genome technology, micro-arrays
and other high-throughput techniques, genomic instability, SNP, DNA
methylation, signaling pathways, DNA organization, (sub)microscopic
imaging, proteomics, bioinformatics, functional effects of genomics,
drug design and development, molecular diagnostics and targeted cancer
therapies, genotype - phenotype interactions. A major goal is to
translate the latest developments in these fields from the research
laboratory into routine patient management. To this end Cellular
Oncology will form a platform of scientific information
exchange between molecular biologists and geneticists, technical
developers, pathologists, (medical) oncologist and other clinicians
involved in the management of cancer patients. All papers published in Cellular
Oncology need to be of the highest quality, by showing that
an important scientific question has been raised, that these questions
have been addressed using well designed experiments, that conclusions
have been fairly made and most importantly that a significant advance
in science has been made through these enquiries. Technical papers need
to be very innovative and be at the leading edge of the relevant
domain. Cellular Oncology publishes original
papers, rapid communications, topical reviews, technical notes, special
reports and letters.

disease and patient care are designed primarily for patients/caregivers
who are highly literate and speak English fluently. Cardiovascular
disease, however, is more common among the poor and illiterate.
Therefore, the effectiveness of these materials needs improvement. The
Foundation is analyzing the readability of cardiovascular reading
materials in order to develop literacy guidelines for use in the
preparation of new materials for patients of all education levels and
ethnic backgrounds.
Leading members of the medical profession have asked for courses in the
application of scanning microscopy technology to various categories of
clinical practice, such as oncology, heart disease, organ transplant,
neurology, surgery, and other disease entities. To provide this bridge
between the microscopies and the treatment of human disease, FAMS will
sponsor accredited continuing medical education courses.

experimental or theoretical, that concern basic materials or
principles, analytical and molecular diagnostic techniques,
instrumentation, data processing, statistical analyses of data,
clinical investigations in which chemistry has played a major role, or
laboratory animal studies of chemically oriented problems of human
disease.

Clinical Hemorheology and Microcirculation
Blood Flow and Vessels

Clinical Hemorheology and Microcirculation,
a peer-reviewed international scientific journal, serves as an aid to
understanding the flow properties of blood and the relationship to
normal and abnormal physiology. The rapidly expanding science of
hemorheology concerns blood, its components and the blood vessels with
which blood interacts. It includes perihemorheology, i.e., the rheology
of fluid and structures in the perivascular and interstitial spaces as
well as the lymphatic system. The clinical aspects include
pathogenesis, symptomatology and diagnostic methods, and the fields of
prophylaxis and therapy in all branches of medicine and surgery,
pharmacology and drug research. The endeavour of the Editors-in-Chief
and publishers of Clinical Hemorheology and Microcirculation
is to bring together contributions from those working in various fields
related to blood flow all over the world. The editors of Clinical
Hemorheology and Microcirculation are from those countries
in Europe, Asia, Australia and America where appreciable work in
clinical hemorheology and microcirculation is being carried out. Each
editor takes responsibility to decide on the acceptance of a
manuscript. He is required to have the manuscript appraised by two
referees and may be one of them himself. The executive editorial
office, to which the manuscripts have been submitted, is responsible
for rapid handling of the reviewing process. Clinical
Hemorheology and Microcirculation accepts original papers,
brief communications, mini-reports and letters to the Editors-in-Chief.
Review articles, providing general views and new insights into related
subjects, are regularly invited by the Editors-in-Chief. Proceedings of
international and national conferences on clinical hemorheology (in
original form or as abstracts) complete the range of editorial
features. The following professionals and institutions will benefit
most from subscribing to Clinical Hemorheology and
Microcirculation: medical practitioners in all fields
including hematology, cardiology, geriatrics, angiology, surgery,
obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology, otology, and neurology.
Pharmacologists, clinical laboratories, blood transfusion centres,
manufacturing firms producing diagnostic instruments, and the
pharmaceutical industry will also benefit. Important new topics will
increasingly claim more pages of Clinical Hemorheology and
Microcirculation: the role of hemorheological and
microcirculatory disturbances for epidemiology and prognosis, in
particular regarding cardiovascular disorders, as well as its
significance in the field of geriatrics. Authors and readers are
invited to contact the editors for specific information or to make
suggestions.

J.P. Whalen
Clinical Imaging provides comprehensive
coverage of new technology, new applications, and important issues
concerning all diagnostic imaging methods. Under the editorship of
Joseph P. Whalen, M.D., Clinical Imaging explores
the relative merits of established and developing diagnostic imaging
technology, with regard to cost effectiveness, safety, and propriety
where specific disorders and physiological systems are concerned.
From ultrasound to MRI, Clinical Imaging provides
essential information for radiologists, radiology residents, and
radiologic technologists.
