Nocardia brasiliensis es una bacteria grampositiva, no móvil, que vive como saprófito en el suelo. Es un actinomiceto aerobio. Esta bacteria se parece a otros actinomicetos en que son organismos de lento crecimiento y puede tomar hasta 2 semanas en cultivo y produce colonias de identificación adecuada.
