Journal of Neuropathic Pain & Symptom Palliation
BB SIIC. Ingreso: 2005-
Editor: Howard Smith
Dramatic changes have taken place in the field of pain medicine in the past 10 years, and although research is far ahead of clinical practice, treatment options have increased significantly. The Journal of Neuropathic Pain & Symptom Palliation examines current clinical research on treatment options, diagnosis and assessment methods for various pain syndromes, and associated symptoms that impair the quality of life for patients with neurologic conditions. The journal adds to the knowledge base of clinicians and practitioners through examinations of physical medicine and rehabilitation/electodiagnostics, and discussions of clinical cases and clinical pain conditions. Neuropathic pain responds poorly to standard pain treatment and may get worse over time, instead of better. For many patients, it can lead to serious disability. The Journal of Neuropathic Pain & Symptom Palliation presents practical treatment options that can be integrated into your treatment to help relieve the debilitating symptoms that affect your patients' quality of life and restrict their ability to function. Topics explored in the journal include: opioids in neuropathic pain pain modulation pain psychology neuropathologic findings in neuropathic pain treatment approaches in neuropathic pain update on new analgesics With an emphasis on education, the Journal of Neuropathic Pain & Symptom Palliation provides practitioners with clinical and practical information that will help manage symptoms and improve the quality of life for patients.

Journal of Nutrition for the Elderly
BB SIIC. Ingreso: 2007-
Editor: Joseph R. Sharkey
This peer-reviewed professional journal studies the growing elderly population from the standpoint of nutrition—the single most important environmental determinant of health. It comprehensively examines the role of nutrition in disease prevention and management, functional performance, and overall quality of life for the elderly. It also provides useful information to aid in developing and assessing nutrition education programs for older adults. The Journal of Nutrition for the Elderly is designed to provide “one-stop shopping” for current research on a variety of cutting-edge topics and methods for applying the results of that research and best practice techniques in home and community settings. As a health care professional who works with the elderly, you will find the information in the Journal of Nutrition for the Elderly essential to providing safe, sound nutritional care to older adults. The journal includes client education suggestions and covers essential aspects of nutrition, from the clinical correlation between the pathophysiology of diseases and the role of nutrition to the psychosocial aspects of eating. In addition to scholarly studies, it also highlights evidence-based interventions for use in community settings. Articles in recent issues of the Journal of Nutrition for the Elderly have covered: an assessment of selected B-vitamin intake data collected from diet and supplements of 564 men and women in the Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging to determine whether diets provide adequate amounts of folate, vitamin B6, and vitamin B12 the design, implementation, and evaluation of a nutrition education program at seven congregate nutrition sites served by a county council on aging reviews, from both historical and current perspectives, of the Nutrition Programs for the Elderly, a program established and funded through the Older Americans Act of 1972 an assessment of the ability of an oral hydration solution to improve volume status in mildly dehydrated elderly nursing home residents the evaluation of factors associated with malnutrition in a large elderly population admitted to a Geriatric Evaluation and Rehabilitation Unit a description of the iron status of a sample of rural elderly home-delivered meals recipients as determined by a relatively noninvasive capillary blood sampling system

Realized in cooperation with International Academy Nutrition and Aging (IANA). There is increasing scientific and clinical interest in the interactions of nutrition and health as part of the aging process. This interest is due to the important role that nutrition plays throughout the life span. This role affects the growth and development of the body during childhood, affects the risk of acute and chronic diseases, the maintenance of physiological processes and the biological process of aging. A major aim of "The Journal of Nutrition, Health & Aging" is to contribute to the improvement of knowledge regarding the relationships between nutrition and the aging process from birth to old age.
