Numerosos grupos de investigación alrededor del mundo se encuentran evaluando protocolos de terapia génica para el tratamiento de diferentes enfermedades. Entre éstas se encuentra el cáncer, que luego de las enfermedades cardiovasculares representa la segunda causa de muerte en la población mundial.
