ENTEROCOCCUS FAECALIS EFAA IN THERAPY-RESISTANT ENDONTIC INFECTIONS
Enterococcus faecalis implicated in persistent root canal infections has also been associated with infective endocarditis arising from certain invasive dental procedures. The aim of this study was to detect the presence of putative E. faecalis virulence factor, endocarditis antigen efaA in root canals of therapy-resistant endodontic infections using molecular technology.

FREQUÊNCIA DOS SOROTIPOS DO VÍRUS DA DENGUE EM MATO GROSSO, CENTRO-OESTE DO BRASIL, ENTRE 2011-2012
Durante a epidemia de dengue em Mato Grosso entre 2011-2012, identificou-se os quatro sorotipos do vírus da dengue em pacientes de 17 cidades do estado. Observou-se 10 co-infecções entre DENV-1/DENV-4 e DENV-2/DENV-4. Os genótipos identificados foram os mesmos circulantes no Brasil. A capital Cuiabá apresentou hiperendemicidade para os quatro sorotipos.

CHOLINERGIC DYSFUNCTION IN MYASTHENIA GRAVIS- IS IT GENERALIZED?
Autonomic function testing was done in patients with myasthenia gravis in remission considering it as an index of generalized cholinergic dysfunction. In seropositive patients significant abnormality was found in frequency domain parameters and a trend was noted in duration domain parameters. There was also statistically significant decrease in time and frequency domain (RMSS and HFMD suggesting parasympathetic deficiency and change in low frequency/high frequency ratio suggesting increased sympathetic tone. This could be due to decrease in ACh signal processing at post ganglionic, preganglionic as well as smooth muscles of the heart. The impact on sympathetic is less because post ganglionic sympathetic synapses are much more than parasympathetic.
