The Journal of Histochemistry and Cytochemistry, the official Journal of the Histochemical Society, publishes papers that report the development of new histochemical and cytochemical methods, significant modifications of existing techniques, or original research in which histochemical and cytochemical methods make a significant contribution. Histochemistry and cytochemistry include (but are not limited to) biochemical, biophysical, and molecular analyses of the functional or structural components of tissues or cells in which the data have been obtained primarily by microscopy. Manuscripts are invited from all fields of biology, pathology, cellular and molecular biology. Highest priority is given to papers that use state-of-the-art histochemical and cytochemical methods to obtain significant new biochemical information about cell function and gene expression in normal, genetically altered, and pathological states. Articles that describe new histochemical and cytochemical methods are of interest, particularly when they are shown to provide crucial new data of current interest to the fields of cell and developmental biology or pathology. Journal of Human Genetics is a leading international journal publishing articles on human genetics, including medical genetics and human genome analysis.
We welcome papers on any aspects of human genetics, including gene cloning and mapping, linkage analysis, mutational analysis, evolution, cancer genetics, and gene therapy, as well as genetic and functional analysis of animal models of disease or behavior.
The journal also welcomes clinical or cytogenetic case reports, as well as reports of genetic polymorphism of biologically important genes, novel mutations found in patients with hereditary diseases or in cancer cells, and population genetics.
Data on novel pathological mutations of genes, in which many mutations have been reported, are not published in this journal. Data on a single or a few novel genetic polymorphisms are also not within the scope of the journal unless an author adds an association with some disease phenotype. However, a set of novel polymorphisms detected by systematic screening of an entire gene of biological or medical importance may be published as a short communication.

Journal of Internal Medicine dates its origin back to 1863. Under the name of Acta Medica Scandinavica, founded in 1919, it has published a number of Scandinavian landmark papers throughout the years. In 1989 the Journal was opened to international contributions and accordingly changed the name to JIM. During the last few years JIM has continued its modernisation with a new cover and colour illustrations. An online manuscript-handling system was implemented in April 2003 that has facilitated submissions and editorial handling of articles. It has also speeded up the peer-review process and markedly reduced the time of publication.
JIMs impact factor has been continuously rising, and is now (2003) 3.250. The Journal is ranked No. 13 among the 102 journals grouped in the ISI "Medicine, General and Internal" list, and on the European Journal Quality Factor list it is No. 3 after The Lancet and British Medical Journal.
JIM aims are to serve clinical and pre-clinical researchers with a forum for publication of original articles concerning the broad panorama of diseases within internal medicine. This goal is achieved by promoting science within internal medicine as a concept of understanding diseases in their broad, interdisciplinary contexts, from genes and molecules to the patients in their particular environment.
JIM also encourages the publication of review articles by internationally leading scientists covering the forefront of medical science. We also support the publication of review articles from international symposia which fall within the scope of the journal.
