IDENTIFICACION DE PIMR COMO REGULADOR POSITIVO DE LA BIOSINTESIS DE PIMARICINA EN STREPTOMYCES NATALENSIS

El gen que codifica el regulador de la biosíntesis de pimaricina, pimR, fue identificado y secuenciado. El PimR representa el arquetipo de una nueva clase de reguladores quimera, combinando una sección N-terminal con homología con reguladores SARP, y una C-terminal similar a reguladores LAL. El gen fue caracterizado mediante inactivación insercional y el mutante generado caracterizado mediante RT-PCR. Resultado de ambas aproximaciones se ha podido caracterizar como un activador transcripcional que activa la transcripción de todos los genes del “cluster” de pimaricina, excepto la suya propia.
